I’m Francis.
I know firsthand the challenges of running and transforming a family business.
In 2009, I returned home to help my parents’ roofing company recover from the 2008 recession. When I joined the business, I encountered resistance to change, clashing visions, and difficult decisions.
Through determination and hard-won lessons, I restructured the business for sustainable growth. By 2017, we hit record profitability. I went on to start new ventures, serve on boards, and ultimately retire at 32.
Lessons Learned, Expertise Gained
Through my journey, I discovered what it takes to successfully grow and transition a business:
Balancing growth with sustainability: Rapid growth without proper systems can jeopardize everything.
Building trust: Succession thrives when outgoing owners feel safe letting go and incoming owners receive the guidance they need.
Letting go of ego: True success comes from asking for help and surrounding yourself with a strong, aligned team.
